(5/5) The best thing the SEC teachers have going on is that they don’t follow the drudgery of your typical language classes. Instead, they let it flow freely - plus they are responsive and have lots of personality to keep the class bubbling along. Even difficult subjects are explained in much detail way beyond what you had in HS or at the university level. These are the Spanish teachers you wish you had when you were younger or in school earlier. The school has an effective support network which helps to orient the students to every day life in Guanajuato so they can focus on studying.Rojelio, Javier and Lupita have the time to devote to you personally. These were my teachers. The topics of discussion are entirely what you care about, what your life story is and you pick what you want to talk about. The teachers determine if you learn best by pictures, by the written word, or songs, because each of these are tried out; and they follow the cues you give them. As soon as you start opening up to them about who you are, they take it from there.The students are taken care of during your first few weeks so you get off to a good start. I got some help finishing my immigration process by people associated with the school. The recommendation from the SEC was to stay with a family for your own protection and care, and this is great advice. The SEC has first-rate knowledge how to get by in Mexico if you just listen to them.Making a partnership with the SEC ended up being an ideal outcome for me, since I wanted to live here for an extended period of time, and it was super important to find a place to learn Spanish really well and become fluent.The teachers go out of their way to be helpful. They let you borrow grammar books that are not being used; their goal is you get up to speed in Spanish as fast as you are capable of.There are recommended excursions that are fun as well as educational. You get to go on a “survey tour” of the Mexican independence spots which is a lot of fun. I had some fine Pollo con Mole on this trip from mom and pop vendors who were excellent with some great food.To be effective speaking, do the 2 hours of conversation (lecciónes de platicar) because these are some of the most fun and practical education walking around GTO (good restaurants, banks, pharmacies, where to make copies, and tie into your hobbies in GTO). Lupita gave me a full foodie tour of Guanajuato to know where to go for several lunches or dinners out after just a few weeks due to the conversation sessions.Guanajuato is a place at a human scale that you can handle when just starting out in Mexico without feeling overwhelmed. There’s plenty of security to keep you safe.Hop a plane to Mexico and attend the Spanish Experience Center (“SEC”) in Guanajuato. It's a lot of fun and teaches you a boatload of things while getting a chance to see the best side of Mexico!

(5/5) I had a wonderful time at the Center, the teachers are energetic and patient. Guanajuato is an amazing SAFE city with unbelievable colors, foods and kind people. I plan on going again soon. If your thinking about an immersion program, sign up, you won’t regret it and you’ll make great friendships.

(5/5) Spanish Experience Center Guanajuato, right in the heart of the city, far exceeded my expectations. That truly is an understatement. Let me start by saying the teaching was absolutely phenomenal. Rogelio’s lessons were well-thought-out and specifically designed for my level. He incorporated grammar and conversation in a super dynamic way. I am a teacher, so I'm always impressed when I see fine teaching. Rogelio is a gifted teacher! He is also kind, personable, and had a great sense of humor. Anyone would be most fortunate to have him as a teacher. I also had a stellar experience taking a tour with Javier through the center of town. We went down the tunnels, to the bustling mercado, and I saw things I never would have seen on my own. My tour was all in Spanish!! On my last day of class, Rogelio and I walked through town and got a hot chocolate. What a cool (qué padre!) way to learn to speak Spanish and experience the culture. The teachers at SEC know how to teach. They are passionate teachers, and you can tell they love what they do and want you to succeed. I'm going to miss them and SEC! It got to the point where I was actually thinking in Spanish after class!! 5 stars just doesn't do my experience justice!!! In addition, SEC paired me with an exceptional homestay. Wow, I can't say enough. Lupita’s accommodations were comfortable, clean, and the breakfasts were outstanding. She was so friendly, approachable, and a lovely person. Lupita went above and beyond. We spoke Spanish daily, and so I continued my language practice with her. I give my homestay the best rating possible. I am sure we will keep in touch. Lastly, the city of Guanajuato is such an exciting place to be. There's so much history here as it's the birthplace of Mexican Independence. There are several museums to explore, cobble-stone streets to meander, music to listen to, and yummy food to enjoy. I often felt like I could imagine what it was like to be living in days of yore as you're surrounded by grand historic buildings. I hope to return to SEC one day to further my learning and continue to explore the rich culture in Guanajuato. Definitely one of the best experiences in my life!! If you're interested in improving your Spanish, look no further. This is it! Muchisimas gracias to Spanish Experience Center!! Bravo!!

(5/5) My 4-week Spanish program at the spanish experience centre in Guanajuato was phenomenal! One-on-one instruction allowed for an organic flow of learning, tailored to my needs. The creative setting and committed, jovial instructors made each lesson engaging and productive. I made tremendous progress and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I'll definitely return, again and again, to continue refining my Spanish skills in this exceptional learning environment. Not to mention, going to watch itself was an absolute gem of a city to be located in. Very history rich, lively, safe, and culturally significant.

(5/5) If you are looking for a quality Spanish school this is the best one I have found. The teachers are fantastic and Guanajuato is an amazing city, so it is a great option for anyone wanting to improve their Spanish skills.
