La Casita Spanish School – (Mérida)

(5/5) ¡Mis 2 semanas en La Casita fueron espectaculares! Desde antes de empezar las clases, José estuvo muy atento y me ayudó mucho con la planeación de mi experiencia de familia anfitriona (que fue una experiencia hermosa también) y también con preguntas sobre la estancia en Mérida en general.Tomé clases grupales por 2 semanas y Gema fue nuestra maestra junto con otros 2 estudiantes. Al principio, estaba un poco preocupada porque ya sabía los temas de gramática que enseñaba en la clase, pero Gema ajustó las actividades para el nivel de cada estudiante. Gracias a su buena onda 😎 me sentí cómoda al cometer errores, así que pude practicar mucho. Gema nos enseñó no solo español sino también la cultura de Yucatán, y de todo México. Para alguien que no conocía nada sobre este país y esta región, Gema fue una guía perfecta también 💗Gracias a La Casita, tengo más confianza al hablar español y estoy más animada que nunca a estudiar español🔥

(5/5) Asistí La Casita durante dos semanas incluyendo Janal Pixan (Day of the Dead). Fue una experiencia inolvidable, obviamente por la belleza de esta ciudad y las festividades, y también por la alta calidad de la escuela y su personal. En mi búsqueda a la fluidez, me animaron a tomar el curso intensivo en grupo, y esa clase sí amplió mis habilidades. De hecho, resultó agotadora para que decidí a inscribirme en clases privadas y mucho menos formales durante la segunda semana. A través de todo, José, Fernanda y todos los maestros fueron profesionales, comprensivos y sobre todo pacientes en adaptar el programa a mis necesidades. He asistido unos más escuelas por todo América Latina y muchas no me habían ofrecido ningún reto mayor. La Casita sí lo han hecho. ¡Altamente recomendada!

José, Fernanda, Jesus, Flor y Jal, muchas gracias.I took the 2/week classes for a month and then intensivo for another. I would recommend both structures. La Casita’s people are amazing, patient, empathetic, and fun.

(5/5) Fantástico. Nuestro profesor Francisco fue estupendo. Sólo tuvimos el curso de 4 semanas, y sin embargo, cuando terminamos, fuimos capaces de desenvolvernos en restaurantes y tiendas. Un gran comienzo. Y Francisco fue muy amable y divertido también.

(5/5) My wife and I had a great experience during our 2 months of classes with our listening and speaking abilities improving immensely. We feel so much more confident when conversing with native speakers. Fernanda, our teacher, is engaging, encouraging and very knowledgeable. José, the administrator, is always friendly and responsive. Many of our classmates have become our friends. Easily the highest impact way of learning Spanish we have encountered. We look forward to continuing our Spanish journey with La Casita next year when we return.

(5/5) I loved my time at La Casita! I took 4 weeks of intensive classes and it was definitely worth my time. From the start, Jose was very accommodating and responsive when answering all my questions and addressing any concerns. The atmosphere of the school is great! Everyone is very warm, welcoming, and friendly which makes it so much less daunting to attempt to speak Spanish. The structure of the school works well for providing an immersive experience. I had both Gema and Fernanda as teachers and they were amazing.The classes had a good mix of grammar lessons, more structured conversation time that incorporated the grammar we learned, and opportunities to practice informally talking about our lives and subjects we were interested in. I loved that we learned idioms, colloquialisms, and practical ways to sound more natural when speaking. The classes are taught entirely in Spanish which really helped my comprehension abilities. Gema and Fernanda were very receptive to students requesting particular topics they wanted to talk/learn about and clearing up confusion and common mistakes. All my classes were small and only had between 3 and 6 students for the entire time I was there. The small class size made it significantly less intimidating to speak Spanish as someone who is more reserved. The teachers do a great job including everyone and encouraging them to speak. Moreover, the more informal and relaxed environment made the classes fun and way more entertaining than learning Spanish through rigid classes offered in universities/institutes in the US.The location of school is great and within walking distance of many cafes, restaurants, a couple museums, and a large park. Gema, Fernanda, and Jose were always willing to give recommendations about where to eat, what things to do, and where to find fun experiences in Merida. Everyone was so helpful and genuinely cared about making the experience enjoyable. I’d highly recommend if you’re looking for an immersion school in Merida.
