(5/5) Alberto Muñoz and his language school Popoca are amazing! If you’re trying to pick a Spanish school, look no further. you won’t be disappointed. I‘ve known Alberto since 2005 when I lived in Oaxaca for several months and took daily Spanish lessons from him. Alberto is an excellent teacher and all around great person. He speaks excellent English if you need some things explained more in depth and you know very little Spanish. He is authentic and has a good sense of humor. He really cares about his students and the world in general. He helps youth and communities that lack resources. I can’t say enough good things about Alberto and his school!

(5/5) I had a great time learning Spanish with Alberto! He is a very patient teacher and adjusts his schooling according to your level. I also very much enjoyed the extra knowledge on Oaxaca and Mexican culture that was provided during the lessons. I highly recommend when in need of a Spanish teacher 🙂

(5/5) I had private tutoring here and was extremely happy. Previously I had attended the better known Magic School but found Popoca superior. The owner, Alberto, is very skilled, caring and dedicated. He makes the students feel competent and is very gentle when errors are made. A very positive experience.I plan to enroll again next winter.

(5/5) Alberto is an amazing person and excellent teacher I spoke a little bit of Spanish but can now have full on conversations. He is very patient and his style of teaching really helped me to learn quickly. The school is an excellent location (with parking!) and has a great vibe. If you come to Oaxaca and want to further your knowledge of Spanish and meet a great person, come here

(5/5) Popoca Spanish Language School and Community Center offers the ultimate Spanish immersion experience. Students have the opportunity to get involved in community projects while learning the language. Having personal contact with locals allows us to better understand and appreciate Oaxaca and its culture. All the teachers at the school bring their own backgrounds and experiences to the table, so classes are always informative, personalized, and highly enjoyable. My fluency in Spanish has improved tremendously since I started taking classes with Alberto. I can't think of a better place to learn Spanish in Mexico.

(5/5) I have taken Spanish classes with Alberto for about 3 years and it has been a wonderful experience! He is an excellent teacher; always patient, kind and positive. His lessons are always enjoyable and I have learned about the Mexican culture, history and people through our interesting conversations. I know that his school is an important addition to language learning and is an asset to his community!

(5/5) I spent 4 weeks at the Popoca school taking intermediate/advanced classes - and it’s the one language school of all the ones I attended all over Latin America that I would return to without hesitation. Alberto is a truly excellent teacher, as well as a wonderful companion to stroll around Oaxaca with. You’ll learn a lot about the city and the country in a much more organic way than at most language schools. I almost went to another school when I couldn’t find a sign for the school (there isn’t one; just go through the gate that is slightly open during school hours) but I’m really glad I went back on Friday and got started on Monday.
